My Hogwarts Letter Came

My auntie is always telling me stories about a young boy named Harry and how he was whisked away off to a far away place where he made friends and learned a great deal of things that all seem so much fun. Auntie told me how she longed for her own letter and when I asked her if she ever got her letter, she just laughed and shook her head. I told her that I would get mine and she could come with me in that magical bag she told me about. This made her laugh a great deal and she told me it was all just fantasy…. until I showed her that my Hogwarts letter had come in the mail.

Pencils for Sale

School is back in and we all know what that means. All those shiny new school supplies that our mommies went and bought for us will be lost within the first week of school. I cannot tell you where they go, for even I do know but I think it is the work of the gnomes that stand outside in the garden. This year I have a plan on how to help the older kids who lose their pencils. You see I do not need mine and I am always finding pencils on the ground all over the school. Auntie and Uncle Cooties opened up a restaurant recently and have been very busy preparing for the grand opening. They had to hire a bunch of waitresses and cooks and these people that stand at the door saying hello to everyone. Auntie decided that everyone needed to wear these uniform things while working and I wanted one as well and begged for her to make me some. At first she did not like this idea because she didn’t want me getting the customers confused but then Uncle Cooties stepped in and said it would be cute. Auntie though kept a very close eye on me while I was there and when she was busy doing orders with the cooks, I found my chance. I grabbed the biggest order and slowly made my way out the doors. I smiled and kept telling everyone “I will be your waitress today.” Which they thought was cute, until I dropped the order on the floor.

I’m very excited! I get to go to school with the neighbour. Nana asked her mom if I could join them in their lessons on maths and words and sciences. I was very excited when Nana told me I could go. Ah this is the life! I know understand why adults enjoy just laying around and doing nothing all day. I listen to everyone say how relaxing it is and how they feel so full of life again. I tell ya those adults have it made. It is rough business being a kid and being told to go play or find something to do. I made the mistake today of saying I was bored at the beach today, a mistake I will never make again. I was told there was far to much to see and do to claim boredom. So I did what I saw them doing. I climbed on the back of a very large turtle and I just floated on its back. I may have even fallen asleep there.

Lounging on the Deck

Nana bought us, me and the nephews, new deck chairs. She said it was a way for us to enjoy the outdoors while not playing in the pool all the time. She bought us these cute icecream cones to enjoy while we waited for Auntie and Uncle Cooties to finish cleaning the pool. I learned that if I want to keep those deck chairs and icecreams to myself all I need to do is call out “Cuzzy!” and those boys go running. So now I get to enjoy lounging on all the deck chairs by myself.

Let the Adventure Begin!

Rainy cold days are the worst days I think. They keep me stuck inside all day long, longing to go outside and play. Auntie told me to try painting; which I did for a bit, but became bored because usually I paint out in the garden. Uncle Cooties suggested that play with my toys, but all they did was make me want to swim in the pool. Nana told me to write a story. At first I wasn’t so sure about this since I am only three and really don’t know how to write. Soon enough though I was creating all kinds of stories about the adventures I would have outside once the rain stopped; I even wrote a few about what I would do if I was allowed in the rain. Nana laughed as she watched me and soon she was asking me what adventure I was about to begin next.

I took to the skies in my magic airplane and traveled the world. I flew from my backyard across the lake and over the mountains. I traveled past the land of dinosaur bones and through the forest of magical creatures. I flew to Africa and saw lions and tigers. Nana’s best friend is here visiting for the week and she has amazing stories just like Nana. She is always talking about space though and how she named some of those stars (more proof that Nana is older than dinosaurs). She promised me that tonight after I am ready for bed that she would teach me about the stars position in the sky. I asked if her this means I get to look through her fancy telescope thing and she nodded with a big smile. I ran off to my room and got dressed for bed really quickly. Shhhh…. You Saw Nothing!

We were invited over to the neighbouring cottage for a dinner party on the beach with the other vacationing people. Nana told me that I was not allowed to go swimming because she wasn’t very happy with me from earlier on. This of course caused me to argue with her that I did nothing wrong and she gave me that look of “we both know better” and I continued to argue with her which did not make my situation any better. I watched for a bit as the other kids played and joked and had fun in the water and the little cooling pools around the beach. I waited for the perfect moment; Nana was chatting with another older lady like herself and I knew they would be lost in conversation forever! I jumped in the nearest little pool and told those around me they saw nothings!
